Happy New Year!!!

Double-posting day!! :)

I love that every year everyone has a redo. As terrible (or great) 2009 was, there are always chances to redo or improve everything all over again for 2010. What a blessing that is!

2009 was a year of many trials for me and my sweet little family. We had several celebrations, but they always seemed to be followed by many many frustrations. My prayer is that 2010 will be a year of renewal, reinvention, and reaching out.

That being said, I am looking forward to tonight. My Hubs and I have plans with friends from our church. My guess is we will eat too much, laugh too much, and too much fun. Who could ask for any better way to welcome the changes 2009 has brought forward.

His is my newest happy, a sweet square wine card perfect for the new year!! What do you think of it?

This card rotates on a brad ... which is represented by the small white circle at the top of the wine bottle.

Then, the first layer swivels upward to reveal the wine glass underneath.

I think it looks delicious!!!
hehe

Homemade Goodies

I have been searching for unpressed bottle caps for awhile. I know people were wondering what is wrong with her ... LOL. But, the wait is over for the BIG reveal. I was working on this darling project for the ornament exchange my family does every year.

I found my bottle caps at a home brewing store I never even knew existed. After trying every store I could think of somehow home brewing popped into my head. I was able to buy my bottlecaps at Dave's Home Brew and Gourmet Too, 144 for $4.95. I did find some people on etsy who sell them, (like floresflorestanis) but with shipping I would not of gotten them in time.

This photo is of pressed bottle caps (or used) they have indents in the lids.

And here is what they look like unpressed (or never used)

As the picture shows, the bottle caps started out silver, and then I painted them all white, like this picture depicts.

Each ornament gets 6 bottle caps to make them double-sided
2 snowman faces
2 buttons
1 name
1 year

Once you get everything painted, the assembling fun begins. Cut a piece of thin ribbon about 10 inches in length. Glue the bottom piece, leave a few centimeters, glue the middle piece, leave a few centimeters, and then glue the top piece. make a loop at the top and glue it down. Then, glue the all three pieces on top of the first three pieces with the ribbon in the middle.

Final Step, add a final or yawn of fabric to make a sweet little winter scarf.

and, WALLLAH! A simply adorable snowman bottle cap ornament. The perfect homemade Christmas gift! :)

Here is how I wrapped them!

Wouldn't you just LOVE to get that present under the tree???

EtsyBlogger Carnival Post

Holidays - Christmas, Hanukkah & Others, what was your favorite gift received? Was it handmade?

The Holidays are my favorite time of year! There are so many wonderful things going on all at once, and while it can be overwhelming at times, it is also so invigorating and fun! Craft shows, Holiday Gift Shopping, Dessert to Bake, Trees to trim ... it is the best!

I remember lots of things from when I was little and living with my parents. Many of the traditions of my childhood I plan to continue with my own children. My absolute favorite is the tradition of getting pajamas under our pillow Christmas Eve. My sister and I would get so excited knowing Santa had made a special delivery just for us! Then, we got to sleep in the pjs and wear them to open our presents for Christmas morning. WOnderful!

However, without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest gift I have ever received for Christmas is the love of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Below is the story of Jesus as told by the gospel of Luke

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"

The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."

"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"

And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me--holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived. When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"), and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."

The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."

There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

--Luke 1:26 - 2:40 New International Version

A Blessing Beyond Words

I am writing my very first post on a brand new amazing macbook pro computer. I have experienced the amazing love of God today far beyond how my words can even describe it.

As many of you awesome readers know, I have been struggling with getting a new computer for awhile ... my old computer has had multiple issues, and been very unreliable lately. Some days it would take hours and hours to even turn on.

This morning my hubs got a message to meet up are associate pastor after services. We were both wondering what in the world he could want, we didn't think we had done anything bad ... ;)

He took us to his office, handed my Hubs and I a package, and then said this was handed to me and I was suppose to pass it along to you as a blessing. Have a seat, and spend all the time you need. Hubs and I looked at each other ... really, for us? My goodness.

We sat down, and opened this sweet note (paraphrase) :

Dear Christina:

We heard from a friend of a friend you needed a computer, and we felt called to bless you with it. Think of it as an early Christmas present.

Use your talents to bless others.

WOW! God is so good!

Philippians 4:19 -- God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory

Here are a few photos. :)

Luke 11:9-10 --
"So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."

Spend some time thanking the Lord today, for He is good!

:)

Blessings,

Christina
